Several student societies have been found to engage the students in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The department has established student chapters of the following societies:
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
- American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering (ASHRAE)
- Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
A dedicated office has been allocated to societies. The societies conduct various activities as part of professional development including seminars, contests, and trainings. Additionally, there are a number of societies at the university level including Literary Society, Dramatic Society, Media Society, and Blood Donor Society for nurturing social and welfare activities.
